ExpeData’s integrated industry-leading handwriting recognition transforms written pen strokes in to digital data that can be fed directly to enterprise systems, streamlining data entry and improving workflow. The key aspect of digital writing is converting handwriting to data. ExpeData uses multiple intelligent handwriting interpretation engines to achieve the highest possible conversion of handwritten text into digital characters or digital text. These engines each have strengths on certain types of data fields and can be assigned to individual fields or characters on a form to achieve the highest level of accuracy.
The ExpeData Digital Writing Platform uses advanced technology to achieve the highest accuracy of handwriting interpretation. The ExpeData System is quite different from typical Optical Character Recognition (OCR) engines as it actually interprets the individual strokes of the characters as well as the completed words. OCR technology looks at only individual block text letters, which can be limiting for many applications. The ExpeData system allows for interpretation of block characters, script writing, as well as entire word context interpretation. This accuracy is achieved through the use of multiple interpretation engines as well as many other advanced techniques designed for business applications.Comb Functionality
Many Optical Character Recognition (OCR) systems leverage combs to ensure individual characters are discrete when the forms are scanned. This works great when user’s stay within the combs, but this isn’t always the case. The ExpeData
system has advanced intelligent recognition capabilities that can interpret individual combs, but also can look at the entire word and character set in the event the user writes outside the combs or places multiple characters within a single comb. The ExpeData system can even interpret the handwriting if the user writes in script form instead of block characters.
Teaching Lexicons
The best way to get the highest level of interpretation accuracy is to leverage databases to compare handwritten words to values in a database. The ExpeData Digital Writing Platform is able to learn as users write new words and accept them during interpretation verification. This works much like adding words to the spell checker in word processing programs. Using Form Viewer or Field Viewer to verify interpretation, the user would
simply type the correction and the new word is added to the database. Next time a form is processed with that word, the interpretation engines will find the likeness. Accuracy gets better and better over time.
Language Support
The ExpeData Digital Writing System now supports the interpretation of Spanish and Portuguese handwriting. From graphical data types to Teaching Lexicons, all the functionality and enhancements that optimize English handwriting interpretation can now be used for Spanish and Portuguese interpretation.
Handwriting Verification Service
For the highest accuracy level of interpretation, we offer Handwriting Verification services. This secure, solution leverages personnel reviewing the interpretation after being processed through the automated engines and either confirming or correcting the information. The corrected data is automatically updated in our database and ready to be routed anywhere in an .xml format.
Graphical Data Types
Many applications require graphic images to make notations more specific and legible for
others. ExpeData’s graphical data type capability allows a user to notate on graphics or diagrams and these notations can be translated into valuable data that can be fed into downstream systems. For example, check a temperature point on this thermometer and our interpretation engine reflects the exact value. Notate a problematic area on this anatomy diagram and the ExpeData system reflects the zone and specific data added.
The ExpeData Digital Writing Platform is designed to provide the highest level of accuracy, learn as you use it and offer highly efficient validation tools for validating the system interpretation.
